Welcome Home Mon!

There is nothing like sitting on the beach with the view of the Caribbean Sea, mountains, and blue skies to relieve some of the stress. As I sit here typing this, I am currently experiencing that exact scenario.  Even the movies do not give the beauty of Jamaica enough justice.
Luckily enough, my boyfriend, Paul, won a trip to Jamaica since he was a top 10 performer over this past year. What is interesting is that he and I were here no more than three months ago for a personal vacation. At the end of each summer, Paul and I try to plan a special vacation to visit somewhere in the Caribbean that we have not had the pleasure of visiting before. Soon after we booked our summer vacation, we learned that he won the trip to Jamaica for his job. Either way, we were not complaining. It is amazing to have a nice little mini-vacation in the middle of the semester to help relieve some of the stress. Not to mention, to get away from hurricane devastated New York. After going without power for 12 days, snow, and freezing temperatures, I was more than ready for Jamaica.
I have the pleasure of sitting on a beach chair under a cabana with the view of the rolling hills of Jamaica and the gorgeous crystal blue water. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting here observing my surroundings and taking in the beautiful weather. As the end of the semester looms, I knew that I could not get away without doing any work. Thankfully, I do not really find this blog as work, but as a way to express my thoughts and share my experiences.
We will be here from Thursday until Monday with several different couples that we are friends with from my boyfriends work. We have already taken an excursion on a catamaran where we snorkeled, sunbathed, and visited a bird sanctuary. The only bad part was it was an hour boat ride out and it was choppy causing a good friend of mine to become violently seasick.  We plan to spend much of our time taking pictures and laying out on the beach. Most excitingly, we are planning to hike up the famous Dune’s River Falls and go snorkeling as well, which is one of my favorite pastimes. Last time we visited Jamaica, we stayed at an all-inclusive resort called Couples Swept Away in Negril, but this time, we are staying at Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay which is also all-inclusive. So far, I find Secrets to be much more modern with a spectacular view where the beach is no further than 50 feet from the room itself. We can literally step off our balcony and in 25 feet be on the beach. Since I love photography, I have been taking pictures nonstop since we stepped out of the room. I cannot wait to spend the next couple of days here relaxing (and getting some work done as the same time) before returning to 3 jobs and night school. Below I posted several different pictures of beautiful Jamaica thus far! Enjoy J
